Incident: Small male child doing "rolls" on bed. Wonderful straight rolls on the bed. All of a sudden child rolls off of bed...jumps up SCREAMING! A little blood. Mother remains calm as this is one rowdy little child who seems to bump his mouth more often than not. Heads to bathroom to clean up. Gets wet cloth to wipe up blood. Mother nearly passes out! Child's lip is hanging with a deep gash! Jumps up, runs out the door to nearest ER.
Ah yes, this is a brief description of my Tuesday evening. Poor Boogie sliced his lip. Required 2 stitches and the little fellow wasn't numb! Sounds hideous, and it was! However, my sweet baby boy is allergic to lidocaine and the local hospital had nothing else. He screamed for me then for our tiny little lamb pup TEDDY! Once the sewing stopped and he could get up, he was fine. He even enjoyed a free Slurpee compliments of Mr. 7-11 after hearing about his incident.
This is incident is pretty terrible, but my baby is fine, and even though we were in the ER waiting for stitches, I couldn't help but think of how dirty we looked! My child had been running around playing all day and had just eaten a bowl of ice cream which he had all over his shirt when the accident occured. I had on my pajamas and my shirt was covered in blood. I put on the first pair of shoes that were nearest which happened to be a pair of dirty, 3 size too small flip flops that are about 4 years old! Call me superficial if you will, but it is the golden rule that you go to the doctor clean!! They might not call Child Protection on me for my kid's lip, but they sure might for our attire! GAH! I'm embarassed! Not to mention that I looked like death because I had been up the previous 36 hours or so working on a group project that deserves it's own blog.
I have a small feeling that I am not the only parent, or person for that matter, to have to run into the ER looking their best! My Boogie is fine and stitches should be out in about 4 days, and that's all that matters!
